I, Dr. Jay K. Shah did my Ph.D. from the Department of Biology, Memorial university of Newfoundland, Canada. Currently I am working as a Research & Development scientist at Sedna Nutra, Canada. My job profile is as follows.
-Innovative product development in the field of Nutraceuticals and food supplements
-Production and process development aimed at enhancing manufacturing process to increase productivity and quality of products
-Develop new formulations for commercial products
-Establish new links to expand supply chain and distribution network with special emphasis on international trade
I also run a consultancy firm along with 4 young enterpreneurs comprising of induviduals from both science and business background.
My research expertise spans modern techniques in DNA cloning, molecular biology, and biochemistry. I have experience in advanced plant transformation techniques and in handling experimental animals, animal tissue culture and stem cells. I have worked in highly professional and modern research laboratories and research centers in Canada, Denmark and India. I have presented my research in conferences in USA, Canada and Germany. This has given me in depth understanding of research and professional cultures of a diverse part of the world. Interactions with the scientific community across the globe have also helped me develop an understanding of the scientific expectations of the society, industry and academia.
I have served on executive council of various committees at student and university level. I have worked as a treasurer and organiser for various associations and have maintained financial records and tax accounts. I have also headed various committees and executed projects at student and university level that include collaborations between institutes in two different continents.
Having completed the certificate course in fundamentals in management, I have formal education in basic management principles and guidelines.
With a unique blend of scientific and organisational skills, I can work both as a member of a team and given an opportunity also lead a team composed of members from diverse scientific, managerial and cultural backgrounds aimed at not just solving complex scientific problems, but also formulating and executing projects which are economically sound and have a futuristic vision.
